Socket in October 2005

It’s leading up to Showtime for those of you in retail – you’re likely to net a third of your annual takings in December alone.
We wish you well for your preparations, and this month we showcase a retail success story to inspire you all.
Please note – we have an exciting NEW TIME AND VENUE! Read below for details of where to come to the next meeting.
Thank you Bonnie so very much for your wonderful hospitality at Beau Monde – your gorgeous bar has made for the perfect premises. And all the very best from Socket for the adventure of motherhood ahead!

OCTOBER SPEAKER: Does it get harder when it gets bigger?
If you’re at the point of employing staff or expanding your business, or simply want to hear a fascinating and inspiring business success story, you won’t wanna miss out on this speaker. Nicola Mercer of New Zealand sex toys empire D.VICE will be speaking on the topics of employment and expansion.
D.VICE has enjoyed remarkable and fast-track business growth. Since its inception in 1998, the company now boasts four stores, manufactures and exports, employs 26 staff, and runs sex toy parties (Fuck-a-ware Parties) in the cities in which it retails.

Zap Along: NEW VENUE!
This month we meet at our brand new venue – which is also a brand new addition to the Wellington venue scene.
THINKTANKZ is just right for our creative businesses because it’s exciting corporate meeting space that’s outside the norm. As THINKTANKZ says, “too many team meeting rooms and conference facilities are beige, boring and benign. How many teams and individuals during team meetings or strategy and planning sessions are asked to ‘think outside the square’ while being holed up in dull grey little boxes?”
So THINKTANKZ has come up with five brightly-coloured and stimulating ‘thinkzones’ to get teams thinking, playing, learning and working together to solve problems in a whole new way.
Groups from two to 250 are catered for. Ranging from three to five-star, there are five fully furnished meeting rooms plus a beautiful auditorium space for presentation or dining, which is fully licensed and has a full commercial kitchen.
THINKTANKZ also offers customised learning and development programmes as well as consulting, coaching and mentoring.
Check out www.thinktankz.co.nz for more information.
