Welcome to Socket

What is Socket?

Its free, it’s fun -- plug into a network of information and support!

Socket is
• for women, preferrably!!
• for those in areas such as design, themeing, artistry, photography, literature, film, television, etc
• an informal, non-competitve and relaxed environment
• a place where information and support are offered, new friends and helpful contacts are made

Background
Socket is an idea conceived by Emma Boyd and Nicola Cox, both “arty” businesswomen. They found at times it can be a very lonely experience running a business, with the support and advice that larger companies take for granted often elusive to people like themselves.
After sharing tips and helping each other with issues like accounting, marketing, strategising, and more importantly just being there for each other to talk to, they realised from feedback, that others were keen to benefit from the same sort of support.
Emma and Nicola know that creative industry types (design, theming, artistry, photography, writing, film, television, etc) have knowledge and know-how which isn’t exactly aligned with the business side of things. Socket intends to provide the opportunity to share and learn from each other (and hopefully in the future, outside specialist speakers) in an informal environment. Although new to this networking/support group game they hope that with help and feedback to find a structure that works!
So come and join our meeting. Link into a fountain of information, and get to meet other woman in similar shoes (or stilettoes) and know that you’re not alone.
Looking forward to meeting you!
Emma and Nicola
