Socket for May 2005

Hiya Socket gals!

We have a gorgeous new home for Socket!

Starting with this next meeting, we have a new and exclusive venue. That’s right, we get the bar space all to ourselves from 5.30-6.30 which is mah-vellous!

Great thanks to owner Bonnie, who we warmly welcome to Socket, we’ll now be meeting at the beautiful world of Beau Monde, upstairs at 82 Tory St (next to the Mall Drycleaners building).

“Time is a jet plane; it moves too fast”.
It’s an apt observation indeed from the pen of legendary lyricist Bob Dylan…

This month’s speaker shares some top tips on time management, as well as relating her experiences of setting up in business as a Sign Language Interpreter.

Rosie Henley hails from the United Kingdom. She has worked both there and in New Zealand as an employed and freelance interpreter, as well as half-time as each. “The juggling of appointments was at times more stressful than the work itself!” she says.

Working with the deaf community where the need for interpreters is high and the supply is low determines how Rosie manages her time. “Time management is always a work in progress. Being self-employed gives us the whole responsibility of managing time which can feel like a burden – however, it should also make us more motivated to do it well!”

Come and enjoy a fireside drink at Beau Monde in the company of other women in business, learning more about how you can utilise time most efficiently in your business and your life.

Next month, SOCKET celebrates our first birthday!
Something rather special is being organised… watch this space for more information.

See you at Socket!
