SOCKET IN MAY

Having great energy and good health are true advantages in fuelling business success, as well as in managing the many aspects of our busy lives. And pitching the right balance between work and life is a constant challenge for many, particularly those of us in self-employment.

We’ve invited a very experienced expert in the field of work/life balance to talk to us about finding the happy medium, so note the date now. Jules Barber has been successfully self-employed for some 12 years, and is her own best advertisement – she glows with great energy!

These are the things most likely to bring you happiness according to American social psychologist and researcher David Myers:
• a fit and healthy body
• positive self-esteem
• feelings of control
• optimism
• an outgoing nature
• acceptance and an outward focus
• realistic goals and expectations
• supportive friendships
• a close, intimate, and equal relationship
• challenging work
• leisure pursuits, with adequate rest
• a faith that has purpose.

Do come along and meet Jules, bring a female friend if you like, and enjoy the mutual support of other women in business.

We would also like to send big ups to Marzena Zareba and ThinkTankz for hosting Socket over the recent months. All those meetings must have rubbed off as Marzena is now dipping her toes into the world of creative self-employment with her own company Idle Dandies! Lizzy and Linda from the extremely cool (and orange) Bambalina’s Cafe have kindly offered us their space for free on Tuesday nights – we’d appreciate it if you’d share the love with a cuppa or one of their delicious cakes and snacks.
