Sistas are doing it…
Q. What do bulletproof vests, fire escapes, windshield wipers, and laser printers all have in common? A. All invented by women.
Socket was an idea conceived by a couple of “arty” businesswomen in Wellington in 2004. They found at times it can be a very lonely experience running a business, without the support and advice that people in larger companies take for granted.
After sharing tips and helping each other they realised that others were keen to benefit from the same sort of support. Socket was started to provide the opportunity to share and learn from each other and outside specialist speakers in an informal environment.
Socket is currently run by Charlotte and Melanie with the help of many others who are much appreciated.
